Around the Festival
Have you ever wanted your hands painted with henna? Experience the elegance and beauty of this traditional Indian art at this year’s festival.
What is henna and is it a tattoo? Click here to find out.
This year, Harjit Singh from local business Beauty 4 U, is offering a threading service at Unity. Threading is a hair removal technique that originates in India and is widely practiced in the Middle East. How does it work? An antibacterial cotton thread is pulled along the unwanted hair in a twisting motion. This traps the hair in a mini lasso and gently lifts the hair right out of the follicle leaving smooth skin. It is perfect for eyebrows and other facial hair. There are no chemicals, toxins, artificial substances or hot waxes. Curious? I know I am!
Win an accommodation voucher or double pass to the cinema.
Don’t be surprised if you are asked to complete a Unity Community Survey during your visit. This is just to gauge your views about the festival so we can continue to improve and grow the festival in a way that you want.
It also helps us determine where our guests are coming from and how they found out about the Festival. This all helps for planning and promoting future events.
Fill out a survey and go into the draw to win an accommodation voucher at a Tweed Coast Holiday Parks or a double pass to Murwillumbah’s newly refurbished Regent Cinema and Cafe. A prize will be drawn at 5pm and 8pm from the Main Stage. A big thank you to Tweed Coast Holiday Parks and Regent Cinema and Cafe for supporting the Unity FESTIVAL.
Interactive street theatre
DoubleMask Drama is a Youth Theatre in Murwillumbah, run by Lachlan Glasby. It focuses on all sorts of styles of theatre, including the wonderful “Commedia Del Arte!” – which is Italian (roughly) for “Professional Comedy”, and is used widely as a form of Street Theatre. This year, they will be bringing Arlecchino, Pantelone and the rest of the gang to the Unity FESTIVAL after a successful run at the Tyalgum Classical Music Festival.
